Off-the-beaten-path countries, paradise beaches, incredible waterfalls and gorgeous nature. Sound good?
Here’s the ultimate 1 month European summer road trip.
It’s worth noting that I did this trip in two halves: the first by car, the second by public transport (and flew home from Corfu the nearest airport).
Here’s the full route:
Days 1–2: Sarajevo
Start in the historic capital! Wander the cobbled old town, try ćevapi, & watch the sunset from the Yellow Fortress.
Days 3–5: Mostar
Famous for its iconic bridge, but there’s so much more. Swim in the Neretva, explore hidden alleys, & soak up the views from Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque.
Day 4: Blagaj Tekke (day trip)
An incredible riverside monastery built into the cliff. Peaceful, scenic, & totally unique.
Day 5: Kravica Waterfalls (day trip)
A natural swimming spot with lush surroundings. Bring a picnic and your swimsuit!
Days 6–7: Durmitor National Park
Spend the day hiking around & swimming in Black Lake, one of our favourite spots in Montenegro!
Days 8–10: Kotor
Climb the fortress, explore the old town & enjoy dinner with a view of the bay.
Day 11: Perast
Tiny, beautiful, & so photogenic. Don’t miss Our Lady of the Rocks!
Day 12: Budva & Sveti Stefan
Explore Budva’s tiny old town & visit the postcard-perfect Sveti Stefan.
Day 13: Komani Lake
Take the ferry through this fjord-like lake or if you have more time, spend a night here.
Days 14–15: Tirana
Colourful, & full of energy. Visit Bunk’Art, try the local food scene, & enjoy the cafes.
Days 16–17: Skopje
Statues, bridges, & a mix of Ottoman culture. A fascinating capital that I fell in love with.
Day 18: Matka Canyon (day trip)
Kayak or take a boat trip - it’s magical.
Days 19–21: Lake Ohrid
Peaceful lake, charming towns, & crystal-clear water.
Days 22–24: Ksamil
White-sand beaches & blue water that could rival the Maldives.
Day 25: The Blue Eye
Super gorgeous! Take a day trip here.
Days 26–30: Corfu
End your trip in Greece with island sunsets, beaches, & amazing food.
