Video Title / Captionturned recycled cardboard into a giant pair of disco cherries 🍒✨ I started by pulling boxes from my building’s recycling bin and sculpting them into the cherry shapes. for the stem, I grabbed some tubing from Ace Hardware and made a DIY structure that I could insert into the forms once they were sealed with Mod Podge. then came the most time consuming part… covering everything in disco tiles. the cherries are 10mm and the stem is 5mm, which helped give it a little more dimension. this was my first time making a sculpture at this scale and my first attempt at anything disco ball related, so there were definitely a lot of challenges along the way. I worked on it over the course of about a month in between other projects, and learned a lot through trial and error. the whole process actually reminded me of glassblowing in college, where you have to fully think through your approach before you even begin. once you start, you have to keep going. I realized I approach my projects the same way now, really planning out each step so everything comes together in the end. overall, a very scrappy build with a lot of patience and a lot of sparkle ✨
