This is for when your you and your dog are in a situation that you never even thought of or never trained for or with something new they haven’t encountered. You will never be able to have 100% control of your dog with just a recall command. In majority of situations or everyday life yes you absolutely can. But if/when something does happen when your dog gets off leash or something scares them or intrigues them more than a command, you will want to have a last resort to make sure you and your dog goes home safely. My byb mini American shepherd I had before Nyx was anxious and was off leash and got scared by something and ran away and ultimately got hit by a car. I have been through what happens without that extra protection or extra insurance. It is not something you can ever forgive yourself for. For your own happiness and your dogs own safety an e collar is extremely useful and helpful. ESPECIALLY with any high drive, high prey drive, confident OR anxious dog.
